6th June 2014
Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe
Wind Direction: e
Wind Stength: 10/14
Surf / Sea State: lumpy
Air Temperature: 23
Sea Temperature: 13
Weather: sunny
Max Speed: 20.46 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 26 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

The forecast was wall to wall sunshine and 14 kts of wind arriving at 4 !!! Lee and Craig Hurrell and Simon Hill were coming to Felixstowe for a longboard session and was going along but the morning wind was just too light :( So Mag and I had a relaxing start to the day before setting off on a bike ride to the Grove, then to Felixstowe Ferry passing the Dip just before the longboarders were due to set off :) but the wind was very light at midday so we went home and finished my book in the garden while keeping one eye on the wind. When the wind reached 10 kts at Landguard I headed down at 3 and rigged big, Lee,Craig and Simon were out as well as Peter Goodchild - all on longboards :) I even put on my shortie for the first time this year ! and headed over to Bawdsey to join them - sadly the wind was still too light for me and both my beating straps broke :( Lightweight Peter was going really well on his Batwing Phantom and I couldn't get anywhere near him !!! I sailed a triangle from The Dip , up the River Deben a little way then a mile out to sea a few times but was getting cold in the shortie so came ashore to change. It was now 5 o clock and the 14 kts was over due :( Swainy, Steve Carter and Mark Smalling arrived to shortboard and Swainy and Mark rigged 8/9 m sails while Steve decided against it as he hasn't got a lightwind board :( I headed out again and to start with the shortboaders were struggling but I was making upwind nicely I then reached down the coast as the wind increased - I even managed to get the track to the back and had my fastest reach from Wadgate post to the beach at the Manor and there was another sailor out on slalom kit. The beat back was good with the tide high and the sea choppy !!! The wind had eased by the time I got back and the shortboarders had backed up but they had managed to get going :) I left the Dip at 8 knackered - nice sail in the sun :)

Great day to remember the D-Day landings - 6th June 1944 !!!
